What you will do:
- Ensure compliance with the Mental Health (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2010, respecting and upholding patient rights.
- Exercise independent judgement for disposals under applicable mental health law, assessing various influences and factors.
- Present at tribunals, explaining and standing by decisions made under mental health legislation.
- Safeguard the property and safety of service users, both during and following any mental health law interventions.
- Acknowledge and incorporate diverse backgrounds into your practice, with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with clients, especially in challenging situations requiring de-escalation.
- Conduct and oversee mental health law assessments, handling potentially distressing and sensitive cases.
- Manage a specific caseload, ensuring strict adherence to safeguarding protocols and other relevant policies.
- Maintain high standards of care, fostering individuality, dignity, recovery, and independence.
- Develop, update, and approve care plans in collaboration with service users and supervisors when possible.
Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in social work.
- Current registration with Social Work England/Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Proven frontline experience in the UK’s social services.
- Commitment to professional and personal growth through adherence to the NMC’s Revalidation requirements and proactive management of your development.
- Ability to guide others in professional practice, acting as a Confirmer when necessary.
