What you will do

Undertake statutory duties as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner in accordance with the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended), performing both emergency and scheduled assessments.
Assess the need for compulsory admission to hospital and make applications under the Mental Health Act where necessary.
Coordinate and lead Mental Health Act assessments alongside medical practitioners, police, ambulance services, and other stakeholders.
Complete holistic social care assessments, care planning, and risk management for adults with complex mental health needs.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

Professional qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or Psychology.
Current Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification.
Evidence of relevant post-qualification professional development.

Registration & Compliance:

Current registration with Social Work England, HCPC, or NMC, as appropriate.

Experience:

Significant experience in Adult Mental Health, Community Mental Health, or Adult Social Care services.
Experience undertaking Mental Health Act assessments and executing AMHP duties.
