Purpose of the Role:

As an Associate Educational Psychologist, you will work under the supervision of Senior or Principal Educational Psychologists to support Birmingham’s Educational Psychology Service. Your work will enhance learning and development outcomes for children, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities, across statutory and non-statutory tasks, early intervention, and inclusion projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychological assessments, observations, and consultations in educational settings.

  • Prepare psychological advice for Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments.

  • Use consultation approaches to help schools identify needs and implement effective interventions.

  • Deliver interventions and group work to support social and emotional development.

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multi-agency professionals.

  • Contribute to Early Help initiatives to prevent the escalation of needs.

  • Maintain accurate records in line with Birmingham City Council policies.
