About the Role
Durham County Council is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join its Adoption Team. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children in need of adoption. You will provide expert assessment, guidance, and support to children, prospective adopters, and their families while collaborating with colleagues, partner agencies, and community organizations to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of children who may be placed for adoption, ensuring their needs are fully understood.

Assess prospective adopters, including home studies and detailed reports with matching recommendations.

Provide ongoing support to children and adoptive families throughout and beyond the adoption process.

Advise foster carers, families, and professionals on adoption-related matters.

Participate in legal proceedings, court hearings, and panel meetings as required.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with statutory requirements.

Champion safeguarding and child protection in all adoption work.

Contribute to service development and improvement through feedback and innovative approaches.
