About the Role
Wokingham Borough Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Justice Worker to join its Focused Diversion and Early Intervention Team. Working in partnership with the Thames Valley Violence Prevention Partnership, this role centres on delivering the innovative Focused Diversion Programme, aimed at supporting young people to make positive life choices and reduce their involvement in the criminal justice system.
This ongoing position offers flexibility for full-time or part-time working, with an attractive hourly rate of £33.16. It’s ideal for an experienced professional who thrives on collaboration, creativity, and making tangible differences in young lives. Please note: Wokingham is approximately a four-hour round trip from London; candidates should consider the practicalities of daily commuting. Immediate availability is required.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of up to 30 children, delivering effective and targeted interventions.

Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families to identify needs, interests, and aspirations.

Make referrals to evidence-based support services, including mentoring, education, and recreational activities.

Monitor and document each child’s progress, particularly in education and engagement.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the IYSS information management system.

Collaborate closely with professionals across health, education, police, and social care to improve outcomes.

Apply trauma-informed and relational approaches consistent with the Child First framework.
