About the Role

We are seeking skilled and motivated Locum Probation Officers to join Health & Social Services team in Guernsey. This ongoing role offers the opportunity to work closely with offenders, from court appearances to intervention programmes, ensuring effective rehabilitation and public safety.

You will be responsible for managing cases from assessment through to reporting, providing tailored interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support offender rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and review rehabilitation programmes for offenders, focusing on reducing reoffending.

• Conduct detailed assessments and provide bespoke support tailored to individual cases.

• Work closely with the Offender Management Unit, including regular visits to prison settings.

• Manage cases end-to-end, including preparing reports for court and attending proceedings.

• Collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies to ensure comprehensive and holistic service delivery.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records in line with departmental policies.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

• Professional qualification in probation, social work, criminology, or a related field.

• Previous experience as a Probation Officer or in a comparable role.

• Knowledge of criminal justice systems, offender management, and risk assessment.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with clients, families, and partner agencies.

• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload responsibly.

• Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and safeguarding principles.

Desirable Criteria:

• Experience within the UK or Crown Dependencies probation system.

• Familiarity with Guernsey-specific legislation and court procedures.

• Additional training in risk management or offender rehabilitation programmes.
