As a Youth Justice Officer, you will play a crucial role in supervising statutory orders, ensuring compliance with court sentences, and working closely with young people to reduce the risk of re-offending. Ideally, you are a Qualified Social Worker or Probation Officer with at least two years of statutory experience. Proficiency in Asset Plus assessments and managing complex caseloads is essential.

What you will do:

Supervise statutory orders, ensuring that young people comply with their court orders and applying enforcement processes when necessary.

Prepare pre-sentence, referral order, and other reports according to national standards.

Represent the Youth Justice Service at Youth Court and other courts, providing support during weekends and public holidays.

Collaborate with children’s service social work teams to support young people in local authority accommodation.

Partner with the Secure Estate, helping young people address offending behaviour and facilitate successful resettlement into the community.

Devise and implement risk management plans based on thorough risk assessments.

Conduct assessments of risk concerning public harm, dangerousness, re-offending, and vulnerability.

Develop intervention plans with specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound targets.

Promote multi-agency working through effective communication and participation in case reviews.

Provide supervision and support to young people on bail or at risk of being remanded in custody.

Engage in restorative justice opportunities and promote the Youth Justice Service’s work to other agencies.
