Senior Therapist/ Counsellor in Liverpool, Merseyside

At Beluga Rox, we are looking for a Senior Therapist/ Counsellor to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to lead on the provision of therapeutic support to our clients' services across the North of England and Wales.

The Role

  • To work as part of a newly established team that works with children and young people who require wrap around support to improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing. You will lead on and support the development of therapeutic approaches, both directly via a caseload and working as past of a multidisciplinary team.    
  • To be involved in the assessment, planning and review of individuals to ensure that therapeutic support is provided and is effective.
  • To provide support to staff through reflective debriefs around significant events or incidents.
  • To provide additional support to staff where requested to support them in meeting the demands of their role and identify barriers to effective working.
  • To liaise with Professionals, Social Workers and CAMHS / EWMHS to ensure effective communication around therapeutic input for the young people where needed and provide reports to support in the reviews.
  • Lead to planning and discuss each young person's therapeutic path.

What you need for this role

  • Individual accreditation with BACP or other recognised governing body.
  • Further post-registration training in a minimum of 2 areas of specialist practice relevant to the post e.g. CBT, EMDR, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Experience of working with young people presenting with a wide range of complex needs using specialized counselling interventions- this could have been gained in an NHS, SEN School or via specialist support environment, e.g. Residential or community mental health services.
  • It would be desirable if you had training in- Autism specific training or qualification- e.g. Talking Mats. Trauma Training – E.g. Polyvagal theory, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
