What you will do:

- Deliver compassionate, family-centred care to children and young people, ensuring their safety, dignity, and wellbeing.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments, implement evidence-based care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
- Act as a role model and clinical expert in paediatric nursing, providing leadership and guidance to junior staff.
- Support safeguarding processes, ensuring children are protected in line with local and national policies.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure holistic care.
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with NMC and Trust guidelines.

Training and Development Focus:

- Contribute to the review and evaluation of existing training programmes for paediatric nurses and healthcare assistants.
- Support the development of new competency frameworks, teaching materials, and clinical skills training packages.
- Assist in mentoring, preceptorship, and supervision of student nurses, newly qualified staff, and junior colleagues.
- Deliver training sessions, workshops, and skills-based teaching to enhance clinical competence across the team.
- Provide feedback to the senior nursing team on staff training needs and recommend improvements.
- Ensure all training initiatives align with NMC revalidation requirements, Trust policies, and national standards.

Leadership and Management:

- Take charge of the ward/unit in the absence of the Ward Manager.
- Support safe staffing levels by allocating resources effectively.
- Contribute to audits, service evaluations, and quality improvement projects.
- Assist with induction and orientation of new staff.
- Participate in recruitment, appraisal, and performance management where appropriate.
