Manchester
permanent, full-time
£60,000 - £70,000 per annum

Uk working eligibility only.

Are you ready to lead environmental excellence on some of the UK’s most ambitious water infrastructure projects as part of the AMP8 framework? This is your chance to step into a high-impact role where your expertise will shape sustainable outcomes across the North West.

As the Environmental Lead, you won’t just be ticking compliance boxes - you’ll be influencing strategy, driving innovation, and making a tangible difference to communities and ecosystems. If you're passionate about tangible impact while delivering complex, high-value projects, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Environmental Excellence: Take charge of environmental performance across projects up to the value of £140m, ensuring sustainability is embedded from design through to delivery.
  • Shape Strategy and Innovation: Influence the environmental direction of major infrastructure projects, contributing to enterprise-wide sustainability goals and low-carbon solutions.
  • Navigate Complex Regulations: Manage planning permissions, environmental permits, and regulatory relationships with confidence and clarity.
  • Champion Biodiversity and Carbon Reduction: Drive initiatives that protect local ecosystems and reduce carbon footprints across water and wastewater sites.
  • Empower and Educate: Deliver impactful training and coaching to operational teams, embedding a culture of environmental responsibility at every level.
  • Grow Your Own Team: Lay the groundwork for a high-performing environmental team - starting with one direct report and expanding to a team of 3-4 over the next few years as the programme evolves.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experienced Environmental Leader: You bring a well-rounded background in environmental management, ideally within infrastructure or utilities, and thrive in complex project environments.
  • Strategic and Analytical Thinker: You’re comfortable interpreting environmental data and turning insights into practical, high-impact actions.
  • Confident Communicator and Collaborator: You build strong relationships with clients, regulators, and internal teams, influencing decisions and driving engagement.
  • Compliance and Assurance Expert: You know your way around permits, consents, and assurance frameworks - and you ensure nothing slips through the cracks.
  • Proactive Problem-Solver: You anticipate risks, identify opportunities, and always look for smarter, greener ways to get things done.
