Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex assessments involving children and families to determine appropriate support and intervention.

• Provide expert consultation and guidance to team members and less experienced colleagues on intricate or high-risk cases.

• Support the safeguarding and promotion of children's welfare in line with statutory requirements.

• Supervise and mentor junior staff, promoting best practice and encouraging skill development across the team.

• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners—including health, education, and police services—to deliver comprehensive support packages.

• Promote reflective practice and contribute to a learning-focused team culture.

Requirements

• Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England

• Significant post-qualification experience within Children’s Services, ideally in safeguarding or assessment roles

• Proven ability to lead complex casework, provide guidance, and mentor junior staff

• Excellent knowledge of current legislation, guidance, and best practice in children’s social work

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, child-focused approach
