Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage complex assessments involving children and families to determine appropriate support and intervention.

Provide expert consultation and guidance to team members and less experienced colleagues on intricate or high-risk cases.

Support the safeguarding and promotion of children's welfare in line with statutory requirements.

Supervise and mentor junior staff, promoting best practice and encouraging skill development across the team.

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners—including health, education, and police services—to deliver comprehensive support packages.

Promote reflective practice and contribute to a learning-focused team culture.
Requirements

Social Work Qualification and registration with Social Work England

Significant post-qualification experience within Children’s Services, ideally in safeguarding or assessment roles

Proven ability to lead complex casework, provide guidance, and mentor junior staff

Excellent knowledge of current legislation, guidance, and best practice in children’s social work

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, child-focused approach
