Key Responsibilities

Develop and regularly review care plans that are tailored to individual needs, ensuring full compliance with statutory frameworks.

Build trusting and therapeutic relationships with children and young people, using trauma-informed approaches to support emotional health, identity, and stability.

Plan and coordinate permanency routes, including long-term fostering, special guardianship, adoption, or family reunification.

Maintain strong, proactive working relationships with foster carers, placement providers, and support networks.

Manage court-related duties where required, including preparation of reports, statements, and attendance at hearings.

Work in partnership with multi-agency professionals (health, education, youth services) to provide holistic care and support.

Ensure all case records, assessments, and plans are maintained to a high standard and in line with statutory and local guidelines.
Essential Requirements

Qualification: Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.

Experience: Significant post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, ideally with Looked After Children.

Knowledge & Skills:

Sound understanding of the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations and Children Act 1989.

Skilled in managing complex cases, risk assessments, permanency planning, and multi-agency collaboration.

Excellent written and verbal communication, particularly for legal documentation and court work.
