Key Responsibilities

• Develop and regularly review care plans that are tailored to individual needs, ensuring full compliance with statutory frameworks.

• Build trusting and therapeutic relationships with children and young people, using trauma-informed approaches to support emotional health, identity, and stability.

• Plan and coordinate permanency routes, including long-term fostering, special guardianship, adoption, or family reunification.

• Maintain strong, proactive working relationships with foster carers, placement providers, and support networks.

• Manage court-related duties where required, including preparation of reports, statements, and attendance at hearings.

• Work in partnership with multi-agency professionals (health, education, youth services) to provide holistic care and support.

• Ensure all case records, assessments, and plans are maintained to a high standard and in line with statutory and local guidelines.

Essential Requirements

• Qualification: Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registration with Social Work England.

• Experience: Significant post-qualification experience in Children’s Services, ideally with Looked After Children.

• Knowledge & Skills:

  • Sound understanding of the Care Planning, Placement and Case Review Regulations and Children Act 1989.

  • Skilled in managing complex cases, risk assessments, permanency planning, and multi-agency collaboration.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, particularly for legal documentation and court work.

• Personal Attributes:
