Role Purpose

To deliver high-quality fostering services by assessing, supervising, and supporting foster carers, ensuring safe, stable, and nurturing placements for children looked after. You will also play a pivotal role in the recruitment and retention of foster carers while working collaboratively with professionals across agencies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct robust fostering assessments in line with Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards.

  • Offer regular supervision and support to foster carers to promote placement stability and timely resolution of concerns.

  • Deliver and support training sessions for foster carers, pre- and post-approval.

  • Collaborate with the placements team to ensure well-matched child-carer placements that safeguard and meet the child's needs.

  • Monitor the ongoing safety and effectiveness of placements, raising safeguarding issues as needed.

  • Contribute to the annual review process for foster carers, assessing compliance and identifying areas for development.

  • Liaise effectively with social workers, education professionals, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to support.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with GDPR and statutory guidance.


Essential Criteria

  • Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA/BSc in Social Work or equivalent).

  • Registered with Social Work England.

  • Demonstrable experience in children’s social care, preferably within fostering, LAC, or safeguarding teams.

  • Strong assessment and report-writing skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
