Advanced Social Worker, Specialising in Looked After Children - Devon, £40 Hourly
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Advanced Social Worker to join our Children Looked After team in Devon. This full-time locum position offers an hourly rate of £40 and is an ongoing opportunity to make a significant impact in young lives. What you will do:
- Provide professional leadership and supervision to team members within the Mid and East team
- Support the Team Manager with the daily operations of the team
- Deliver an efficient and effective service to children and young people in care
- Manage a smaller caseload with cases involving complex needs
- Conduct in-depth assessments, ensuring quality and consistent outcomes
- Mentor and supervise colleagues and students, fostering continual improvement in practice standards
- Model high standards of professional social work practice in a high-pressure environment
- Deliver quality assessments to prevent any delay in support for families
Skills and experience required:
- A social work qualification with registration from Social Work England
- Substantial post-qualification experience demonstrating Advanced Social Worker level expertise
- Competence in social care, the multi-agency framework, and court environments
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in relevant legislation, models, and theories in children’s social work
- Effective recording and planning abilities
- Ability to lead improvements and challenge social care practice constructively
- A valid UK driving licence with access to a vehicle
Social Workers must be available to manage allocations and visits to meet service needs, with potential home-working options discussed at interview.
