What you will do:

- Lead and manage a team of social workers and practitioners responsible for carrying out statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989 and related legislation.
- Ensure timely and robust Section 17 and Section 47 assessments, with clear analysis, risk management, and decision-making.
- Provide regular supervision, case direction, and reflective practice to staff, promoting continuous professional development.
- Oversee allocation and performance of cases, ensuring work is completed within statutory timescales and meets local and national standards.
- Ensure thresholds for intervention are applied consistently and proportionately, including step-up and step-down between Early Help and statutory services.
- Quality assure assessments, plans, and records to ensure child-focused and outcome-driven practice.
- Work in partnership with families, health, police, education, and voluntary agencies to safeguard children and promote their well-being.
- Lead team meetings, participate in child protection conferences, strategy discussions, and legal planning forums.
- Monitor performance data, contribute to audits, and implement service improvement plans in collaboration with senior management.
- Support the implementation of legislation, guidance, and local procedures, including working with Ofsted inspection frameworks.
