Service Engineer
Salary: £27,248 per year (depending on skills and experience)
Location: Woking, GU21 5SA (Full UK driving licence required)
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
About the role:
We are looking for a Service Engineer to join our team at Ross Care, supporting people’s mobility and independence across Surrey and Chessington. You will receive full training in our workshop to build your knowledge of wheelchair equipment. Once trained, you will work both in the workshop and out in the field, delivering, collecting, repairing, and servicing wheelchairs. Our aim is to complete most repairs on the first visit.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver and collect wheelchairs from people’s homes and NHS sites, following infection control procedures
- Service and repair wheelchairs on-site whenever possible
- Complete clear paperwork on parts used and work done
- Use all provided protective equipment correctly
- Take part in an out-of-hours rota once trained
- Keep the company vehicle clean, safe, and well-stocked
- Provide excellent customer service at all times, wearing uniform and ID badge
- Keep tools and workshop areas clean and safe
- Attend all necessary training to maintain required skills
- Move and handle equipment safely, following guidelines
About you:
- Full UK driving licence
- Able to pass an enhanced DBS check
- General workshop and basic electrical knowledge (12v/24v systems)
- Previous experience in face-to-face customer role
- Delivery driving experience is an advantage
- Understanding of working with disabled people
- Flexible and able to work on your own initiative
- Good communication skills, both written and spoken
- Comfortable using a mobile phone for photos and handheld scanners
- Physically able to kneel, crouch, and work in small spaces
Other information:
- The role includes moving and handling equipment, sometimes in confined spaces
- You must be willing to work overtime at short notice if required
- You will be part of an out-of-hours rota once trained
