Job Title: Civil Engineer Location: York (Hybrid Working) Employment Type: Permanent Salary: Generous (DOE) Hybrid Working Available About the Role Following a major project win and a growing pipeline of work, our Civils division is expanding. We are seeking a motivated Civil / Structural Engineer with strong design experience to join our team in York. You will be involved in delivering civil and structural engineering solutions across a range of rail infrastructure projects, contributing throughout the project lifecycle from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and delivery support. Key Responsibilities Deliver civil and structural engineering design for rail infrastructure projectsUndertake technical design work across structures, geotechnics, drainage, or water managementProduce, review, and check calculations, reports, and design documentationEnsure compliance with relevant UK standards, codes, and client requirementsWork collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teamsSupport project delivery across all design stagesContribute to technical problem-solving and design optimisationMentor and support junior engineers where appropriate Essential Requirements Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)Significant experience in civil/structural design within rail infrastructure projects (essential)Strong technical background in at least one of: structures, geotechnics, drainage, or water managementProficiency in relevant engineering design softwareStrong understanding of UK standards and industry practicesExcellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills Desirable Requirements Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IStructE or equivalent) preferred but not essentialExperience within a consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering environmentExperience working on large-scale infrastructure projects What We Offer Competitive salary (DOE)Excellent benefits packageHybrid working modelOpportunity to work on major rail infrastructure projectsSupportive and collaborative team environmentStrong career development opportunities Apply Today!Company informationAt First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
