What you will do:

  • Conduct assessments of children in need and those at risk of harm, ensuring that decisions are always child-centred and evidence-based.
  • Develop and implement care and protection plans aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of complex situations, including child protection, children in need, and looked-after children.
  • Participate in and lead Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, and Looked-After Reviews to ensure robust safeguarding.
  • Collaborate closely with partner agencies such as health, police, education, and the voluntary sector to ensure coordinated and effective safeguarding responses.
  • Prepare comprehensive written and verbal reports for court proceedings and offer testimonies in court as needed.
  • Maintain precise and timely case records in alignment with statutory and departmental standards.
  • Champion the voice of the child in all assessments and interventions, ensuring their wishes and feelings are acknowledged.
  • Engage in regular supervision, team discussions, and continuous professional development to maintain your Social Work England registration.
  • Contribute proactively to service improvement and the promotion of best practices within the safeguarding team.
