Role purpose

As a Social Worker within the Locality Team, you will deliver high-quality statutory services to children and families, managing complex caseloads to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. You will undertake court work, child protection, and care planning in line with legislation and the Signs of Safety (SoS) practice framework.


Key responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload, including Child in Need, Child Protection, Care Proceedings, and Adoption cases.

  • Undertake court-related work, including the preparation of high-quality reports and attendance at court hearings.

  • Complete Private Law work, including Section 7 and Section 37 assessments and reports.

  • Apply the Signs of Safety framework effectively within assessments, planning, and interventions.

  • Carry out comprehensive assessments and develop robust care plans that promote safety, stability, and permanence.

  • Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and partner agencies to achieve timely and effective outcomes.

  • Co-work complex cases and provide professional guidance to colleagues when required.

  • Support ASYE Social Workers and students through mentoring, co-working cases, and reflective practice.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with statutory requirements and local procedures.

  • Participate fully in supervision, team meetings, training, and service development activities.

  • Ensure all practice complies with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and Hull City Council policies.
