Job Purpose:
The Social Worker – Duty and Assessment Team plays a critical role in the safeguarding and welfare of children. You will assess referrals, evaluate the level of risk, collaborate with multi-agency teams, and implement care plans to ensure positive outcomes for children and families.
What You Will Do:
Referral and Assessment:

Respond promptly to new referrals and gather relevant information to assess the level of need and urgency for intervention.

Conduct initial assessments to determine levels of risk and need for children.

Make decisions regarding the safety and welfare of children, ensuring all concerns are addressed quickly.
Safeguarding and Risk Management:

Identify and address safeguarding concerns, developing and implementing risk management plans.

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, and police, to safeguard children.
Care Planning and Reviews:

Develop and review care plans for children, ensuring they meet the child’s needs and are implemented effectively.

Participate in child protection conferences and meetings to evaluate the progress of cases and make necessary adjustments.
Court Work and Documentation:

Support legal teams in the preparation of documentation for court proceedings.

Maintain clear and accurate records of all cases, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice.
Duty and Emergency Response:

Serve on the duty rota, providing a consistent and responsive service to new referrals and emergencies.

Ensure timely responses to all safeguarding issues, ensuring the child's safety is always the priority.
Multi-Agency Collaboration:

Collaborate with a range of professionals to develop comprehensive care plans and ensure children and families receive the support they need.
Person Specification:
Essential:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Experience in children’s social care, particularly in duty and assessment work.

Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation.

Ability to work within tight deadlines and manage a complex caseload.
Desirable:

Experience in a duty and assessment role within a local authority.

Familiarity with local services and agencies in Bury.
