Job Title: Locum Social Worker – Corporate Parenting Team

Pay Rate: £38.00 per hour
Contract: Ongoing Locum
Working Pattern: Full-time, 37 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join the South & West Children Looked After Teams within the Corporate Parenting service in Totnes. This role offers full-time hours, working Monday–Thursday 9am–5pm and Friday 9am–4pm. For the right candidate, a 9-day fortnight may be considered where service needs allow.

What you will do

Build and maintain positive relationships with children, young people, and their families to promote safety and stability.

Carry out high-quality assessments and ensure work progresses without drift or delay for families.

Apply social work legislation, models, and theories to support children’s needs and improve outcomes.

Communicate effectively with multi-agency partners and represent the service within court environments when required.

Work effectively under pressure to deliver timely interventions and maintain strong professional practice.

Plan and record assessments using SMART planning to ensure clear and effective case management.

Visit children and manage allocated cases in line with service requirements.

Key Details

Office Base: Totnes

Working Hours: Monday–Thursday 9am–5pm and Friday 9am–4pm (37 hours per week). A 9-day fortnight may be considered depending on service needs.

Driving Requirement: A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.

Essential Criteria

Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience (PQE).

Current Social Work England registration.

Completion of the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).

Experience working in social care, including multi-agency and court environments.
