Social Worker – Community Justice Team (LSCMI Trained)
Location: Dumfries & Galloway (Hybrid Working)
Pay Rate: £40–£43 per hour
Contract: Temporary / Agency
Working Pattern: Hybrid working with a condensed 4-day week available if preferred

The Role – Social Worker, Community Justice Team
As a Social Worker within the Community Justice Team, you will deliver statutory Criminal Justice Social Work services, focusing on public protection, risk assessment, and effective supervision of individuals subject to statutory orders and licence conditions. You will work in partnership with justice agencies and local services to reduce reoffending and manage risk within the community.
Your work will support the responsibilities of the Responsible Authority under the Management of Offenders (Scotland) Act 2005, with a strong emphasis on structured assessment and risk management.
Key Responsibilities – Social Worker (Community Justice)

Undertake comprehensive risk assessments using LSCMI

Develop and review risk management and supervision plans

Supervise individuals subject to statutory orders and licence conditions

Deliver evidence-based interventions to reduce offending behaviour

Prepare high-quality reports for courts, parole, and multi-agency forums

Contribute to MAPPA processes and public protection planning

Work collaboratively with justice, health, housing, and third-sector partners

Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with local authority requirements
Requirements

Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification

Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)

LSCMI training is essential

Experience in Criminal Justice or Community Justice Social Work

Strong knowledge of risk assessment and public protection frameworks

Ability to manage complex, high-risk caseloads effectively

Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills

Ability to work effectively within a hybrid and flexible working model
