Role purpose

As a Social Worker within the Children’s Safeguarding Team, you will deliver effective statutory social work services to safeguard children and promote their welfare. You will manage complex cases involving child protection, care proceedings, and court work, ensuring decisions are evidence-based and child-centred.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a comprehensive social work service to children, families, and carers, including assessment, planning, and case management.

• Manage a varied safeguarding caseload, ensuring timely interventions and regular reviews.

• Undertake child protection enquiries and investigations where there are concerns of significant harm.

• Prepare high-quality reports and act as an expert witness, presenting evidence in court and other relevant forums.

• Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary professionals to assess risk and plan effective interventions.

• Apply relevant legislation, guidance, and safeguarding procedures to protect children and promote participation.

• Maintain accurate, clear, and timely case records in line with statutory and organisational requirements.

• Engage proactively with partner agencies to share information and influence positive outcomes.

• Make effective use of available resources to reduce risk and improve outcomes for children and families.

• Support, mentor, and guide newly qualified staff and contribute to service development initiatives.
