What You Will Do

  • Undertake statutory assessments of children with disabilities, ensuring compliance with the Children Act 1989 and relevant legislation.

  • Develop and implement child-centred, outcome-focused care plans for children in need, protection, or care.

  • Facilitate and coordinate short breaks assessments, tailoring support packages to individual family needs.

  • Work collaboratively with education, health, and partner agencies, attending reviews and meetings as required.

  • Conduct risk assessments and safeguarding investigations, contributing to child protection conferences.

  • Support families in accessing services, empowering parents, and advocating for children’s rights.

  • Maintain accurate case records, prepare comprehensive reports, and participate in professional supervision.


Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Recognised Social Work qualification (BA, MA, DipSW, CQSW)

  • Registration with Social Work England

  • Completion of ASYE programme (if newly qualified)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children and young people with disabilities

  • Proven experience conducting statutory assessments under the Children Act

  • Strong background in multi-agency working and safeguarding

Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of disability legislation and safeguarding frameworks

  • Excellent communication, advocacy, and case management skills

  • Confident using IT systems (experience with Liquidlogic desirable)
