About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join the Children In Care Team in Wakefield on an ongoing locum basis. This opportunity offers flexible full-time or part-time working arrangements with competitive hourly pay.
In this role, you will manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring that care planning is robust, child-centred and outcome-focused. You will play a key part in supporting permanence planning and promoting stability for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Care Planning

Manage a caseload of looked after children

Develop, implement and review comprehensive care plans

Ensure all statutory visits are completed within required timescales

Promote long-term stability and positive outcomes for children
Permanence & Court Work

Facilitate permanence planning, including reunification, long-term fostering or adoption

Prepare detailed reports for court proceedings

Provide professional evidence in court where required
Multi-Agency Collaboration

Work closely with education providers, health services and partner agencies

Participate in multi-agency meetings to safeguard and promote welfare

Ensure children’s voices are central to all planning and decision-making
Compliance & Recording

Maintain accurate and timely case records

Ensure adherence to statutory regulations, safeguarding procedures and local policies

Uphold data protection and confidentiality standards
Requirements
-
Social Work England registration
-
Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work

Experience within statutory children’s social care
-
Sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and permanence planning

Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills
