About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join the Children In Care Team in Wakefield on an ongoing locum basis. This opportunity offers flexible full-time or part-time working arrangements with competitive hourly pay.

In this role, you will manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring that care planning is robust, child-centred and outcome-focused. You will play a key part in supporting permanence planning and promoting stability for children and young people.


Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Care Planning

  • Manage a caseload of looked after children

  • Develop, implement and review comprehensive care plans

  • Ensure all statutory visits are completed within required timescales

  • Promote long-term stability and positive outcomes for children

Permanence & Court Work

  • Facilitate permanence planning, including reunification, long-term fostering or adoption

  • Prepare detailed reports for court proceedings

  • Provide professional evidence in court where required

Multi-Agency Collaboration

  • Work closely with education providers, health services and partner agencies

  • Participate in multi-agency meetings to safeguard and promote welfare

  • Ensure children’s voices are central to all planning and decision-making

Compliance & Recording

  • Maintain accurate and timely case records

  • Ensure adherence to statutory regulations, safeguarding procedures and local policies

  • Uphold data protection and confidentiality standards


Requirements

  • Social Work England registration

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work

  • Experience within statutory children’s social care

  • Sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and permanence planning

  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills

  • Commitment to continuous professional development
