What you will do

Case Management: Manage a complex caseload involving Child Protection, Children in Need, and Care Proceedings.
Assessment and Planning: Complete high-quality assessments, risk analyses, care plans, and statutory visits in accordance with legislation and best practice guidance.
Safeguarding Leadership: Lead on complex safeguarding cases, ensuring effective and timely interventions are implemented.
Practice Development: Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional guidance to Social Workers, including Newly Qualified Social Workers where appropriate.
Multi-Agency Working: Collaborate closely with education, health, police, legal services, and partner agencies to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
Meeting Participation: Chair and contribute to professional meetings, strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and multi-agency planning meetings.
Court Work: Prepare detailed reports, statements, and assessments for child protection conferences and court proceedings, providing evidence where required.
Quality Assurance: Contribute to audits, practice development initiatives, and continuous service improvement.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and timely case recordings using the council's case management systems.

Qualifications / Requirements

Social Work Qualification: Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised qualification.
Registration: Current Social Work England registration.
Experience: Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care and safeguarding services.
Child Protection Expertise: Extensive experience managing complex safeguarding, child protection, and care proceedings cases.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to mentor, support, and develop other Social Workers.
Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of child protection legislation, safeguarding frameworks, statutory guidance, and court processes.
Communication Skills: Excellent assessment, analytical, report-writing, and interpersonal skills.
Decision-Making Skills: Ability to exercise sound professional judgement in complex and high-risk situations.
