What You Will Do:

Act as a senior decision-maker within the Duty Hub, screening new referrals and setting appropriate thresholds and actions.

Conduct initial and statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014, identifying and managing risks effectively.

Supervise and mentor newly qualified or less experienced social workers, fostering their professional development.

Contribute to quality assurance through the review of assessments, reports, and case records to ensure compliance and consistency.

Work collaboratively with partner agencies including police, education, and healthcare professionals to safeguard vulnerable children.

Support the Team Manager with operational duties such as managing workloads, chairing duty discussions, and monitoring team performance.

Lead or participate in multi-agency meetings, strategy discussions, and emergency safeguarding responses as required.

Promote strength-based, person-centred, and trauma-informed practice, ensuring the best outcomes for children and families.

Ensure all casework meets statutory timescales and upholds the council’s values of safeguarding, independence, and wellbeing.

Contribute to service improvement and policy development within the Duty Hub, driving quality and innovation.
