What You Will Do:

• Act as a senior decision-maker within the Duty Hub, screening new referrals and setting appropriate thresholds and actions.

• Conduct initial and statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014, identifying and managing risks effectively.

• Supervise and mentor newly qualified or less experienced social workers, fostering their professional development.

• Contribute to quality assurance through the review of assessments, reports, and case records to ensure compliance and consistency.

• Work collaboratively with partner agencies including police, education, and healthcare professionals to safeguard vulnerable children.

• Support the Team Manager with operational duties such as managing workloads, chairing duty discussions, and monitoring team performance.

• Lead or participate in multi-agency meetings, strategy discussions, and emergency safeguarding responses as required.

• Promote strength-based, person-centred, and trauma-informed practice, ensuring the best outcomes for children and families.

• Ensure all casework meets statutory timescales and upholds the council’s values of safeguarding, independence, and wellbeing.

• Contribute to service improvement and policy development within the Duty Hub, driving quality and innovation.
