What you will do:
- Carry out Initial Assessments to understand the needs and risks of children and families
- Initiate Care Proceedings to safeguard vulnerable children
- Take cases to initial case conferences, ensuring the best interests of the child are always the focus
- Conduct assessments under the single assessment framework, providing clear and informed recommendations
- Engage in Care Planning and signposting to appropriate services
- Complete comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards to children
- Prepare detailed reports for initial child protection case conferences
- Attend case conferences to discuss and plan child welfare strategies
- Complete Section 17 reports for family courts to aid in decision-making
- Write initial court statements to provide evidence and insights for legal proceedings
- Apply for emergency care orders when immediate action is necessary
- Attend court to present and defend the welfare interests of children
- Perform home visits to monitor and safeguard children, ensuring their well-being
- Chair meetings to lead discussions and strategise child protection plans

Requirements of the Senior Social Worker:
A Degree or equivalent in social work is essential, alongside current Social Work England registration. You will need significant frontline experience in Social Services in the UK, having worked as a qualified Social Worker.
