Senior Project Engineer in Solihull, West Midlands

Senior Project Engineer 

6 - 9 month contract

Solihull, M42 Project

£450-£500 per day (inside IR35)

Start: October 2026

Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day engineering activities on site.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the wider project team.
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Review drawings, designs and technical information ahead of construction.
• Oversee setting out, surveying and engineering checks where required.
• Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors, designers and other stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve technical issues to maintain progress.
• Support the preparation and review of RAMS, ITPs and relevant construction documentation.
• Carry out quality inspections and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Monitor subcontractor activities and ensure works meet required standards.
• Assist with planning, sequencing and coordination of works.
• Maintain as-built information and site documentation.
• Ensure engineering activities are undertaken in line with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Senior Engineer, Project Engineer or experienced Site Engineer.
• Strong civil engineering and site delivery experience.
• Highways or major infrastructure experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and engineering standards.
• Good setting out and surveying knowledge.
• Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance and engineering documentation.
• Ability to identify and resolve technical and construction issues.
• Confident working independently and taking ownership of engineering packages.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant civil engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
