Role Purpose

To provide high-quality mental health nursing care to prisoners at HMP Ranby, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and rehabilitation. The Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) will assess, plan, and deliver therapeutic interventions while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and prison staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth mental health assessments, triage, and risk evaluations for prisoners

• Design, implement, and review personalised care plans tailored to individual needs

• Administer medications and monitor effectiveness and side effects

• Lead therapeutic interventions for conditions such as psychosis, anxiety, and depression

• Manage mental health crises and respond effectively to emergencies

• Uphold safeguarding and security standards within the prison environment

• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other health professionals

• Maintain accurate documentation in line with NHS and prison policies

Applicant Requirements

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with prison clearance

• Experience in mental health nursing within a relevant setting

• Strong clinical, communication, and risk assessment skills

• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
