Purpose of Role
Your primary mission is to safeguard high standards of health, safety, and access for people in and around new buildings, as well as those undergoing changes of use and alterations, through the Building Regulation process. Leading the city council's efforts, you will contribute significantly to the strategic improvement of Hull's built environment, supporting social inclusion, safety, and neighbourhood renewal. This role also involves maintaining and developing a competitive Building Control service and coordinating strategies to expand the section’s customer base while delivering top-quality services according to performance indicators.
As a Class 2 Registered Building Inspector, possessing qualifications such as the ABBE Level 3 Award for Building Control Competency Assessment demonstrates your proficiency and competence in accordance with the Building Inspector Competence Framework (BICoF) for specific building categories (A to F).
What You Will Do
- Lead and manage projects to ensure they comply with Building Regulations and other relevant statutory requirements.
- Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of building plans and construction sites.
- Provide expert guidance and advice to internal and external stakeholders about building safety and regulations.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with a dedicated team to achieve the strategic goals of the building control section.
