What you will do:
- Carry out construction and property maintenance activities, including inspection, fault finding, diagnostics, and repair solutions across various buildings.
- Deliver high-quality painting and decorating work and adapt to tasks outside your primary trade to complete jobs in a single visit when possible.
- Perform additional tasks such as patch plastering, tiling, minor carpentry, plasterboard tacking, glazing, and more.
- Provide accurate estimates of time and materials needed for tasks and projects.
- Plan and execute work with minimal waste and correctness of design plans and specifications.
- Mentor and guide apprentices and trainees, sharing practical knowledge and skills.
- Communicate effectively with customers, explaining job scope, timeframes, and addressing inquiries or complaints.
- Ensure customers are kept informed throughout the project timeline.
- Maintain professionalism concerning personal appearance and adherence to the Councils Dress Code.
Requirements:
- Completed a recognised apprenticeship with Level 3 qualification in Painting and Decorating or equivalent, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience in construction and maintenance.
- Versatile skillset across multiple trade disciplines including minor plumbing and carpentry, among others.
- Hold a full UK driving licence to travel across the city.
- Thorough understanding of construction industry standards, policies, and health and safety regulations, including dealing with hazardous materials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially communicating effectively with vulnerable groups such as the elderly or frail.
- Proficiency in IT and telecommunications equipment to improve work efficiency and communication.
