An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the Social Services Team within Adult Social Care in Birmingham. This ongoing locum role offers a competitive hourly rate of £31.97 and flexible working options including part-time or full-time hours.

Working as part of Birmingham’s Adult Social Care service, you will support adults with physical disabilities, frailty, and long-term conditions, helping them maintain independence and safety within their homes. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality occupational therapy interventions that promote wellbeing and independence across the community.

What You Will Do

  • Undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for adults within the community.

  • Assess functional ability, mobility, and environmental risks within service users’ homes.

  • Recommend minor and major adaptations, specialist equipment, and assistive technology to support independence.

  • Develop and implement rehabilitation and independence-focused intervention plans.

  • Work collaboratively with social workers, physiotherapists, housing teams, and other health professionals.

  • Provide guidance on manual handling, moving and handling plans, and risk assessments.

  • Support hospital discharge pathways and help prevent unnecessary hospital admissions.

  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation in line with council policies and procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory duties under the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding frameworks.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Experience within Adult Social Care or community occupational therapy services.

  • Strong assessment, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
