What you will do:
1. Investigate complaints received about poor housing conditions across a range of property types including single dwellings, Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO), and Mobile Homes to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, guidance, and licence conditions.
2. Inspect dwellings under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) to identify and rate hazards producing detailed notes, calculations, plans, and digital images while keeping appropriate records.
3. Specify remedial work needed to remove or reduce hazards to an acceptable level by preparing detailed schedules of work. Produce reports, notices, and letters for clear communication and action.
4. Determine and take the most appropriate informal or formal action to ensure hazards are removed or reduced, in accordance with adopted Enforcement and Civil Enforcement policies and legislation. This includes preparing and serving statutory notices and prosecution actions where necessary.
5. Inspect HMOs or dwellings within areas of selective licensing to determine their suitability for a licence and oversee the process of issuing licences where appropriate. Monitor properties to ensure compliance with licence conditions and investigate unlicensed properties.
6. Take action to deal with dwellings that are open to unauthorised access or pose a danger to public health.
7. Gather evidence in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1994, including conducting interviews under caution either at doorsteps or through tape-recorded sessions in an office environment.
