Role Purpose

To maintain and enhance the borough’s environment through high-quality cleansing, horticultural, and grounds maintenance services. You will play a vital role in delivering safe, clean, and pleasant public spaces for residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform environmental cleansing and grounds maintenance, including litter removal, bin emptying, and upkeep of green spaces.

• Operate powered tools and specialist equipment, ensuring security and maintenance.

• Safeguard vehicles, buildings, and resources under your responsibility.

• Assist the public with directions and general inquiries.

• Report property damage or street defects and support environmental enforcement operations.

• Support community campaigns, events, and initiatives.

• Mentor trainees, seasonal staff, and volunteers.

• Complete paperwork and maintain accurate records.

• Work safely, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.

• Ensure tasks are completed to standard and within specified timescales.

Requirements

• Experience in environmental cleaning, horticulture, or grounds maintenance.

• Competency in operating powered tools and equipment.

• Experience working outdoors in manual roles.

• Knowledge of Health and Safety protocols and environmental issues.

• Proven literacy and numeracy skills in a work environment.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 2 qualification (e.g., GCSEs, NVQ Level 2, or City and Guilds Craft).

• Alternatively, substantial equivalent work experience will be considered.
