What you will do:

  • Work closely with outpatient department staff, ward managers, and specialist nurses to deliver high-quality care to patients.
  • Make informed decisions and be accountable for them, while maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to NMC and hospital codes.
  • Document patient care accurately according to hospital policies and actively participate in professional development and training.
  • Support the provision of a welcoming, caring, and safe environment for patients and their families.
  • Remove sutures, administer injections, and undertake wound care, ensuring your competencies are up-to-date and documented.
  • Provide comprehensive patient education and counselling before and after surgeries, assisting in informed decision-making.
  • Guide patients in their recovery, acting as a key contact for queries and providing postoperative reassurance.
  • Attend theatres and pre-operative wards to ensure continuity of care and a familiar presence for the patients.
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures and develop competence in using the slit lamp.
  • Manage and maintain stock levels of consumables and drugs required for the oculoplastic practice.
  • Assist with risk assessments and ensure compliance with hospital policies and national regulations.
