CONTROLS ENGINEER

Job Title: Controls Engineer

Location: Derbyshire

Salary: Up to £57,000

Shift: Monday – Friday (Rotating Days & Afternoons)

Job Role of the Controls Engineer.

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Controls Engineer to join a modern, high-tech FMCG manufacturing site in Derbyshire. The company has heavily invested in advanced automation, PLC-controlled production lines, and continuous improvement initiatives, making it an excellent workplace for engineers seeking career development, technical growth, and future leadership opportunities.

You will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and improving the site’s control systems, supporting electrical maintenance activities, and carrying out fault-finding on a range of automated and semi-automated production machinery. Your focus will be on maximising uptime, driving efficiency, and supporting ongoing automation projects across the factory.

This is a Monday to Friday rotating days and afternoons role, offering excellent work-life balance alongside exposure to cutting-edge FMCG manufacturing technology.

Sector – FMCG Factory Maintenance & Automation

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Controls Engineer

· Strong controls/automation experience within an industrial manufacturing or FMCG environment.

· Hands on experience with pre-planned, reactive and breakdown support in a fast paced industrial factory.

· Proven PLC fault-finding and modification experience.

Requirements for the Controls Engineer

· Hands-on electrical and controls fault-finding experience.

· Recognised electrical or controls engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND or equivalent).

· Experience working within a manufacturing environment with automated machinery.

· Experience with PLCs such as Siemens, Allen Bradley or similar.

· Understanding of HMI, SCADA and inverter/drive systems.

Desirable Requirements for the Controls Engineer.

· Experience working as a Controls or Maintenance Engineer in the UK.

· Experience leading or supporting continuous improvement and automation projects.
