About the Role

What You Will Do

• Handle deceased individuals safely, respectfully and professionally, ensuring all procedures comply with established protocols.
• Communicate sensitively and effectively with bereaved and distressed families, providing appropriate support and information during difficult circumstances.
• Utilise your experience in post-mortem procedures, including forensic post-mortem examinations, to undertake thorough examinations and maintain accurate documentation.
• Apply knowledge of a range of post-mortem dissection techniques to carry out examinations safely, accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain high standards of professionalism, dignity and confidentiality throughout all aspects of your work.
• Comply fully with Health & Safety regulations and established workplace procedures.
• Identify and manage risks associated with infectious diseases, hazardous chemicals and gases.

Essential Requirements

• Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience of post-mortem work.
• Experience of forensic post-mortem examinations.
• Knowledge of a range of post-mortem dissection techniques.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a mortuary environment.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with bereaved families.
• High levels of professionalism, compassion and attention to detail.

Desirable Requirements

• HCPC registration is desirable.
• A full driving licence and access to a car would be advantageous due to the multi-site nature of the role.
