We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Band 5 Custody Nurse or Paramedic to join our team in Skegness. What you will do:

  • Attend all calls as requested and directed by the call centre.
  • Undertake clinical assessments and offer a high standard of clinical care to patients under your management while detained by the police or other agencies.
  • Assess fitness for detention, interview, release, or transfer.
  • Provide healthcare interventions for minor illnesses or injuries and refer more serious conditions onwards.
  • Undertake forensic examinations and record injuries or collect DNA evidence as required.
  • Manage the examination and care of police officers or staff injured while on duty.
  • Collect specimens as required under legislation.
  • Work within the scope of PACE legislation Code C (Police and Criminal Evidence Act).
  • Provide written statements and oral testimony as required.
  • Maintain contemporaneous notes and accurate clinical records.
  • Assess alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal, and perform mental health and learning disability assessments.
  • Support the development of medical services with the Clinical Lead and Head of Clinical Operations.
  • Engage in all duties required of a Forensic Clinician in custody.
  • Promote and conduct policies like Equality and Diversity, Dignity and Respect, Information Governance, and Safeguarding.
  • Utilize the RADAR System effectively.


If you meet the following personal specifications, we would love to hear from you:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (adult) or Paramedic
  • Minimum two years qualified, or three years depending on the contract
  • NMC or HCPC registration
  • Proficiency in venepuncture
  • Resided in the UK for at least three years
  • Experience in A&E, ITU, EAU, SAU, nurse practitioner roles, practice nursing, or as drug and alcohol workers
  • Valid UK driving licence with access to a car for work purposes


Desirable Experience:

  • Leadership course or qualification
  • Experience working closely with team members and external parties to review patient care
  • Experience with innovative medical practice
