An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 4 Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) to join a busy and well-established laboratory service in London. This full-time, ongoing locum role offers a competitive hourly rate and the chance to work within a fast-paced, high-throughput laboratory environment, supporting essential diagnostic services.

You will play a key role in maintaining laboratory efficiency and accuracy, contributing directly to patient care through high-quality sample handling and analyser support.

What you will do

  • Load and unload Cobas 8000 analysers in line with laboratory protocols.

  • Operate P671 and P612 systems accurately and efficiently.

  • File and store samples correctly to ensure traceability and compliance.

  • Aliquot samples for referral testing, maintaining sample integrity at all times.

  • Manage in-house and referral pending lists, ensuring timely progression of work.

  • Monitor and support reagent management to maintain uninterrupted laboratory workflow.

  • Respond to customer service queries via email professionally and promptly.

  • Handle incoming telephone calls, providing accurate information and support.


Essential requirements

  • HCPC registration (required).

  • Previous experience working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in a clinical laboratory setting.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.

Driving is not required for this role.
