Key Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality assessments to identify the needs and risks faced by vulnerable children and families.

• Develop and implement comprehensive care and protection plans, ensuring effective interventions for those in need.

• Carry out child protection investigations, adhering to statutory requirements and safeguarding frameworks.

• Maintain accurate and detailed case records, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice standards.

• Engage in direct work with children, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are central to all decision-making.

• Collaborate closely with multi-agency partners, including education, health, and police professionals, to provide cohesive and effective support.

• Drive across the western area of West Sussex as part of your role, meeting with families and partner agencies as required.

About You

To excel in this role, you will need:

• Qualified Social Worker status (Degree or equivalent).

• Social Work England registration.

• At least 3 years’ post-qualified experience in local authority children’s services, ideally within child protection, family safeguarding, or assessment teams.

• Strong assessment and risk management skills, with the ability to make sound professional judgments under pressure.

• A collaborative approach, working effectively across agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.

• A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
