What you will do:

• Lead and manage the Children in Need Team to provide a high-quality, comprehensive, and effective service.

• Directly line manage 6 social workers, overseeing all casework within the team, ensuring a supportive environment for staff.

• Provide professional leadership and foster collaboration within a multi-agency context as needed.

• Serve as a specialist adviser on children in need issues and contribute to developing relevant policy and services.

• Translate statutory, community, voluntary, and independent resources in line with legislation, council, and departmental policies to achieve best practices and outcomes.

• Offer guidance, support, and direction to maintain and develop appropriate skills and standards.

• Conduct appropriate assessments, plan interventions, and create care plans with thorough review and evaluation.

• Ensure team adherence to departmental policies and procedures, including child protection, integrating these into everyday work.

• Demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced by disadvantaged families with children and their specific needs.

• Regularly monitor service records to ensure compliance, identify patterns or trends, and address any issues promptly.

• Possess in-depth knowledge of various services and resources to meet identified needs, including across agencies like Housing, Education, and Health.

• Provide leadership and influence in organisational change and development, recognising and addressing service gaps.
