Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a reduced but highly complex caseload, including high-risk child protection and court work.

  • Conduct thorough assessments and develop outcome-focused plans with families and professionals.

  • Provide mentorship and professional guidance to less experienced team members.

  • Lead safeguarding enquiries and represent the team in multi-agency meetings.

  • Participate in audits, service improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.

  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners such as schools, health services, and police to promote early intervention strategies.


Purpose of the Role

Provide expert social work practice, mentorship, and case oversight within the Families First Team. You will support children, young people, and families through early help, child-in-need, and safeguarding interventions, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based outcomes.


Essential Qualifications & Requirements

  • Social Work degree or equivalent recognised qualification with Social Work England registration.

  • Significant experience in children’s social care, particularly safeguarding and court work.

  • Proven ability to mentor and guide colleagues in a social care setting.

  • Strong knowledge of child safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation.

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships.
