What you will do:

- Manage, lead, and supervise a team of skilled social workers and support staff, working collaboratively with children and families who need support and safeguarding interventions.
- Ensure robust compliance with statutory duties and local procedures related to child protection, safeguarding, and looked-after children.
- Oversee the implementation of assessments, child protection plans, and care proceedings to ensure these are strengths-based and outcome-focused, fostering timely and effective practice.
- Promote a culture of reflective supervision and practice development within the team to ensure staff wellbeing, retention, and continuing development.
- Monitor team performance using quality assurance frameworks, ensuring casework that meets key performance indicators is regularly reviewed.
- Liaise expertly with internal and external agencies including health, education, police, and the voluntary sector to coordinate efforts and improve outcomes for children and families.
- Play an active role in strategic planning and service improvement activities.
- Make sure that case management decisions are well-documented, defensible, and informed by evidence.
- Manage complaints, incidents, and escalations professionally and in line with council policies and standards.
