What you will do:

- Chair Reviews for Looked After Children (LAC): Lead statutory reviews of care plans in line with the IRO Handbook, Children Act 1989, and Care Planning Regulations 2010 (amended).
- Promote Child-Centred Practice: Ensure children’s views, wishes, and feelings are central to all decision-making processes. Meet with children prior to reviews to ensure their voices are heard.
- Quality Assurance and Challenge: Monitor the quality and timeliness of care planning, challenge poor practice, and escalate concerns through formal dispute resolution if needed.
- Legal and Statutory Oversight: Ensure plans are legally compliant, achievable, and in the best interest of the child. Monitor drift or delay in permanency planning.
- Partnership Working: Work collaboratively with social workers, team managers, health, education, and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of reviews, decisions, and outcomes. Contribute to service reports, audits, and inspections, such as Ofsted.
- Escalation of Concerns: Raise issues through appropriate channels, including the dispute resolution process, where there is inadequate progress or safeguarding concern.
- Promote Permanency Planning: Scrutinise and challenge where permanency plans are delayed or not in line with the child’s needs.
