Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day management and supervision of a team of social workers.

Allocate and monitor workload to ensure safe, efficient, and child-centred service delivery.

Chair key meetings including case reviews, planning meetings, and strategy discussions.

Ensure all care planning and interventions align with statutory responsibilities and local policies.

Lead on performance management, case audits, and service quality assurance processes.

Represent the team in multi-agency forums, court proceedings, and external panels.

Manage HR-related responsibilities including staff development, absence, and conduct in line with Council policies.

Promote and embed best practices including diversity, equity, safeguarding, and trauma-informed care.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and service development planning.

Support the Local Authority’s broader objectives through collaborative leadership and innovation.
Requirements
-
Social Work England registered Social Worker.

Significant post-qualification experience in children’s services, ideally with management or supervisory experience.

Sound understanding of child protection, care proceedings, and relevant legislation (Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, etc.).

Proven ability to manage complex caseloads, make decisions under pressure, and drive high standards of practice.

Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Confident in the use of IT systems and data to monitor team performance.
