What you will do:

  • Oversee the management of medicines, including administration, audit, and strict adherence to safe medicines management protocols.
  • Provide guidance to the wider team regarding medication safety practices, including staff induction and conducting competency checks.
  • Develop health interventions for families, focusing on physical, mental, and sexual health promotion for mothers.
  • Administer medications and support women through assisted withdrawals in line with health care plans.
  • Facilitate access to external health care services for women and children as needed—make those GP visits less daunting!
  • Keep medication records impeccable: from maintaining accurate MARS sheets to ensuring stock levels and medication rooms are at their best.
  • Lead staff education by providing robust training in medications management and sharing best practices.
  • Conduct initial health assessments and support women with key health milestones and monitoring throughout their stay.
  • Promote healthy attitudes and ensure women and children feel empowered to make positive health choices.
  • Collaborate with GP surgeries and other health professionals to optimise care pathways.
  • Maintain top safeguarding and confidentiality standards, ensuring the safety and well-being of all women and children.
  • Be an empathetic listener and problem-solver for residents, helping them navigate challenges with guidance and optimism.
  • Create a warm and supportive environment while maintaining professional boundaries.


Essential requirements:

  • A Nursing degree or NVQ Level 5 qualification.
  • Confidence and experience in supporting children aged 0–11 years old.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding policies with the ability to act appropriately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with excellent report writing and organisational skills.
  • A non-judgemental approach to the challenges surrounding drug and alcohol use.
  • Enthusiasm and flexibility to adapt to the needs of the team and residents.
  • The ability to maintain professionalism while working in an emotional and dynamic environment.
