What You Will Do

  • Conduct comprehensive statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989, including Section 17 and Section 47 investigations.

  • Develop and implement SMART care plans focused on achieving positive outcomes for children and families.

  • Manage a dynamic caseload effectively, prioritising child welfare at every stage.

  • Complete detailed risk assessments and ensure safeguarding principles are upheld.

  • Engage directly with children, young people, and families to build trust and foster positive change.

  • Prepare clear, professional reports for Child Protection Conferences and court proceedings.

  • Identify, assess, and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with Cumberland Council’s policies.

  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners — including health, education, and police — to deliver holistic and integrated support.

  • Participate in reflective supervision and continuous professional development to refine practice.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records in accordance with statutory requirements.
