This rewarding locum position comes with an excellent hourly rate of £38.15. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team on a full-time basis, supporting children and families in need of Care and Support.

The post encompasses a variety of functions, including child protection and safeguarding in line with the Children Act 1989 and the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) 2014 Act. You will play a vital role in co-producing assessments and Care and Support Plans with families, producing court reports, and supporting the placement of children for adoption.

What you will do:

  • Manage a case load of children in need of Care and Support, those on the Child Protection Register, and Children Looked After.
  • Co-produce assessments and Care and Support Plans with families and partner agencies.
  • Prepare court reports and facilitate the placement of children for adoption, liaising with Vales, Valleys, and Cardiff Adoption Service for timely adoption orders.
  • Coordinate and chair core groups, undertake statutory visits, and escalate concerns where child protection plans are inadequate.
  • Fulfil “duty” responsibilities on a rota basis, ensuring planned coverage two days a month.
  • Organise your case load in accordance with departmental policies and legislative requirements.
  • Engage in individual supervision and staff appraisal sessions, and participate actively in team meetings and service development.
  • Manage the initiation and ongoing management of legal proceedings to safeguard children's welfare.
