Job Purpose:
The Senior Practitioner will lead and mentor social workers, managing complex cases and ensuring the needs of children with disabilities and their families are met effectively. You will also work closely with healthcare providers, educators, and the voluntary sector to provide holistic care and safeguarding, while driving improvements in service delivery.
What You Will Do:
Case Management and Supervision:

Manage complex cases for children with disabilities, conducting thorough assessments and creating tailored care plans.

Provide supervision and guidance to social workers, ensuring high standards of practice and effective decision-making.

Support social workers in managing their caseloads and provide expert advice when needed.
Collaboration and Multi-Agency Work:

Lead coordination with healthcare providers, educators, and the voluntary sector to create a comprehensive support network for children with disabilities.

Work within a multi-agency setting to ensure a holistic approach to care.
Risk Assessment and Safeguarding:

Lead and conduct risk assessments, implementing safeguarding measures promptly when necessary.

Ensure that the safety and well-being of children are prioritized in every decision.
Leadership and Training:

Lead training sessions for the team to encourage continuous professional development.

Support and inspire the team to continually improve practice and deliver the best outcomes.
Court and Legal Work:

Represent the local authority in court settings, offering expert insights and testimony.

Prepare reports for care proceedings and ensure the best interests of children with disabilities are represented.
Strategic Improvement:

Contribute to policy and practice reviews, helping to drive the improvement of service delivery.

Person Specification:
Essential:

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Significant experience in children’s social care, specifically working with children with disabilities.

Experience in managing complex cases and providing supervision and guidance to other social workers.

Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and risk assessments.
Desirable:

Experience in a Senior Practitioner role within a local authority setting.

Expertise in working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies.

Knowledge of local services in Rochdale.
